Meet Colleen and Chris
Colleen and Chris completed their BA LLB degrees together at the University of Kwazulu Natal, Pietermaritzburg. Whilst C. Ries Inc was founded by Colleen in 2017 the collaboration of Colleen and Chris was poised to happen given their their long standing trust, ethical alignment and collective experience as a legal team. Their clients not only benefit from their loyality, but also the drive and commitment required to ensure that C. Ries Incorporated continues to deliver exceptional customer service and quality legal solutions.
Following the completion of her degree, Colleen relocated to Gauteng and completed her Articles at Hugo & Ngwenya Attorneys in Pretoria. She then pursued a career with Deloitte in Johannesburg working in their Corporate and Commercial Department gaining extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions.
Colleen then moved to i-Intelligence where she was employed as their senior In-house Legal Advisor specialising in IT law. With more than 16 year’s legal experience, she started practicing for her own account, with specialisation in commercial law, alternative dispute resolution and criminal law.
Colleen has four children, has completed the Sani2C and prides herself on balancing work with her family commitments.

Chris remained in KZN and completed his articles with a large, reputable Durban law firm and gained experience in a wide variety of legal areas with a particular focus on corporate, commercial, construction and labour law, and related litigation.
His experience in the fields of business and company policies and procedures, has given him the unique ability to blend the practice of law with a strong corporate understanding. With a genuine desire for solutions-oriented outcomes, he grasps concepts quickly and recognises his clients’ requirements in order to apply the law with a pragmatic approach.
Chris is married with three children. Spare time is family time, although as Chairman of the Salt Rock Squash Club, he certainly enjoys playing regular squash, with the occasional game of golf thrown in.
